Saori weaving class
Classs led by Marie Suzaki
Monday afternoons, 2:30-5:00pm
Class size: Minimum 2, maximum 4
Cost $35 plus $10 material, per sessionSAORI is a contemporary hand-weaving founded
by Misao Jo in 1970 in Osaka, Japan, The idea
of this weaving is that there are no rules, manuals
or predetermined patterns as there is in other
traditional weaving. There are no restrictions of
what to weave and how to weave. So, everyone can
express his or her feelings freely. Its often considered ZEN weaving.
In SAORI we do not teach, but try to help and guide
to develop individual creativity. It is a creative hand
weaving program which is not only for therapeutic
weaving but also for visualizing people's minds.
Weaving is the inner journey of seeking your true self.
You are not only weaving a piece of cloth, but weaving
a part of yourself into the cloth. It is a confirmation
of your present feelings, and your sense of value. The class is similar in its composition, Zen structured.
Students will have an opportunity to learn how to
warp, dress, weave, and design clothing depending
on their interest and their skill level.Where: Knotty By Nature Fibre Arts Store
