Introduction to using fungi for fibre
In this introductory course, participants will learn the main processes for using mushrooms and lichen as a natural dye. These pigments are bright, beautiful and resilient. You will learn about local dyes species, where to harvest them, and how to use them! You will walk away with multiple yarn samples. We will also design and dye a silk scarf to take home.

Rachel Abramson has a background in environmental science and teaching with a side passion for arts and mycology. She started learning about mushrooms and how to find them while growing up in California. In the last few years she began to dive into the art of dying fiber with them. Rachel is currently getting her Master’s in Environmental Education in Victoria, BC.
