Boro is traditional patchwork. Small scraps of cloth are bound together using sashiko to repair, re-create, and bring new life to tattered worn fabric. It celebrates the beauty of practicality; use everything and waste nothing. It is an opportunity for quiet contemplation and mindfulness.
Sashiko is Japanese folk embroidery.
Running stitch, in contrasting colours, is used to create patterns geometric or often inspired by nature. In Boro it binds and strengthens the cloth. It embodies the ideals of slow stitch.
